Vægtergangen is the old term for the round (route), the watchmen in older times walked the city streets at night.
In many Danish market towns, in the 1300th century, various watch systems arose to ensure peace and order in the streets at night, and to prevent and fight fires. From approx. In 1550, first Copenhagen and then the cities Helsingør, Kolding, Ribe and Haderslev and others got actual night watchmen who were supposed to ensure supervision and peace and order in the city's dark streets.
The suits and equipment the guards wear are faithful copies of the 1700th century guards, as they looked in Haderslev and Hertug-dømmerne.
