Close to the Brunshøj dirt road and in the middle of a field is the burial mound Brunshøj itself. The mound is assumed to have been 2 high and 10-11 m long in the east-west direction and 5-6 mi in the north-south direction and thus somewhat larger than we can see today. The high construction is believed to have been larger and it has been somewhat included over time. Today it is overgrown with grass and heather. At the top there are triangulation stones that were used for height measurements before we went digital. The burial mound is protected, but has not been excavated.
The burial mound Brunhøj has been significant in the landscape, and has been deliberately placed near busy places. The army road is believed to have passed close by here in ancient times
Today's Hærvej walkers come past Brunhøj on the southern edge of Stursbøl Plantage, where Øster Lindetvej and Slevadvej cross. At the intersection you will be able to see Brunhøj to the north.
There is no connecting footpath to the burial mound, so it can only be viewed from the dirt road.
