Kalvø is a small island in Genner Bay, connected to the mainland by a small dam.
The island has been used for millennia, whereupon they witness the many finds of burial mounds from the Viking Age and butterflies.
The island was purchased in 1847 by shipowner Jørgen Bruhn, who built one of the largest shipyards of the time at the time.
Today, Jørgen Bruhn's former residence, the manor house, is designed as a museum, just like the remaining buildings of the yard.
Three different exhibitions are displayed. One that describes Kalvø's history, one that describes the yard and the ships and one that deals with Genner Bay and the surrounding area.
