The museum is located where King Christian X rode across the border at the reunification in 1920, just opposite Den Gamle Grænsekro.
The museum building is a residential house from 1877, which craftsmen, companies, and many volunteers have renovated and rebuilt in just 6 months from January 6, 1995 to July 9, 1995. The museum was completed in just 23 hours and 19 min. before Queen Margrethe II was to inaugurate the museum.
Most recently, in 2017, the museum received a new beautiful exhibition wing. The museum can be seen, among other things. the beautiful Frej paintings, the border booms from Kær Mill and many other exciting effects.
The small museum illuminates the great Danish history of the 1864 border and the Reunion in 1920, based on a shared Schleswig, historical and cultural background for the testimony of future generations about a peaceful cross-border coexistence and life on both sides of the Kongeå border.
In the museum's parking lot there are many free parking options for both cars and buses.
